GUEMES ISLAND RESORT
When we looked for where to get married, we had a few requirements. First one was, on the beach. Right on the beach. Second one was, not too fancy, and a good place to have fun and throw an amazing party! Third one was it had to be on an island, as we are both from islands. After a long and secret search, we found Guemes Island Resort. It’s freaking awesome, and we rented it for the whole weekend, fromFriday at 4pm to Monday at 10am.
THE “REHEARSAL DINNER”
Rehearsals are boring and not really necessary. And why shouldn’t everyone get to come to the dinner? On Friday night before the wedding, around 6pm, we’re throwing a giant potluck style barbecue dinner. There are multiple grills there to cook on. We do ask that you bring something to eat or drink, but we will have plenty of food in case you can’t, so no worries! And the party will go on all night too.
THE CEREMONY
The ceremony is outside, right on the beach of course. There is a big tent in case it rains. We will try to not make it too long and boring.
THE RECEPTION
Do you like Paella? I sure hope you do, because we ordered several metric tons of it. It’s absolutely delicious. Options are meat and seafood. Seriously, it’s really good. There is also salad and bread.
Once you’ve eaten and are ready to start having fun, go to the bar. Or go before, we don’t judge. We have beer, wine, seltzers two amazing cocktails (blackberry bourbon smash and margaritas), and sangria! Also plenty of fizzy waters, coke, and regular water to stay hydrated.
THE AFTERPARTY
Once you’ve eaten, the real fun begins! A dance floor, in a tent, on the beach! Good thing we’re all responsible adults. The party goes as late as we want it to. Although since we’re getting older, who knows how late that will be. We debated getting a DJ, but decided we’d rather listen to what you chose! Here’s a link to our Spotify playlist. Food + Stuff
We’ll be providing a post-wedding breakfast on Sunday morning, complete with bagels and schmear, fruit platters, and coffee
from Good Bagels in Anacortes.
You are encouraged to bring your own food and drinks if you’re staying the weekend. Each cabin comes with a fridge and a full kitchen, and the yurts have a cooking pavilion to cook in.
If you like the convenience of shopping local, the resort has a small Gift Shop with some grocery items and drinks for a reasonable price. There is also one restaurant and grocery store on the island, Guemes Island General Store https://www.guemesislandgeneralstore.com/
Yes, outside alcohol is allowed. We thought you might ask!
Amenities
Sauna, dutch hot tub, hiking, fishing, kayaking, and, of course, paddleboarding are all available to you over the weekend.
The sauna and dutch hot tub will be fired up on Sunday morning after breakfast, and most likely post-cold plunge for those brave souls. Remember to bring your swimsuits!
